At Medallia, we hire the whole person.

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure as Service team within the Medallia Cloud Services organization at Medallia. The team is responsible for building and maintaining the core infrastructure supporting Medallia’s global network of data centers (colo-location and public cloud). We are directly responsible for managing thousands of servers, petabytes of flash, and hybrid storage and elastically scaling our infrastructure to meet the ever-increasing Medallia’s Experience Cloud needs. 

The Systems Engineers on the team are responsible for maintaining the tools/systems described above. This includes troubleshooting problems with systems and services, regular deployment of new versions of the systems and their subcomponents, deployment/system validation and testing, service monitoring, standing up new services/tools, etc. The team works with many different internal Software Development teams to drive improvement of the systems/services within the team's scope. It is important to be able to work collaboratively and independently to investigate and document issues and create solutions to solve them at scale.

Requirements

  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes is a major plus.
  • You have expertise with Linux/Unix systems and have used configuration management tools (such as Maven, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt);
  • You have Shell scripting, Java, and Python programming experience;
  • Experience with observability services, like Prometheus, is a plus
  • Working knowledge of the Linux storage stack, both block and file system a plus
  • Experience with Minio, CEPH RadosGW, and S3 object storage is a plus.
  • You have designed and/or delivered mission-critical services (preferably cloud-based services);
  • You have experience deploying to application servers such as Tomcat, Nginx, or Websphere in enterprise environments, and working with both relational and NoSQL databases such as Hadoop etc.
  • You have a strong desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment where you have a lot of responsibilities and see the immediate impact of your efforts;
